lets dive a little deeper
Mimic in the Pantry is an actual play Dungeons & Dragons podcast using the 5.5E edition.
Served fresh, with extra screaming. Our homebrew campaign, Hellz Kitchen, is a love letter to horror and adventure anime. Picture a world where every meal bites back and every monster might end up on the menu. The story takes place in Gormentillia, a land drenched in blight and beauty, where survival means hunting monsters for food... and trying not to become the main course.
Expect horror, humor, chaos, demonic bargains, and yes, a very large, very evil dragon breathing somewhere in the dark. Our world simmers with a signiture dark cabaret flavor of smokey showmanship, and an immersive sound design that broods beneath the action like something waiting under the floorboards.

What is a Actual play podcast ?
This is an actual play podcast, which means nothing is scripted. The Dm is armed with lore, possible plot points and the rulebook. Yet every moment that. unfolds is improvised by our twistedly talented cast of actors, dungeon masters, and storytelling addicts. The dice fall where they may. The decisions are questionable at best. Our DM, ever the alchemist of chaos, throws her notes across the room as she reshapes the world around those choices in real time, turning disasters into delicious drama.
The signature sound

The voice of our creation is a rather decadent choice,
the laughter of a dark cabaret whispering sweet insults in your ear.
It’s quirky. It’s twisted. It’s a beautiful mess built from our depraved little minds.

Our theme song, titled ''Carpe DM'' was lovingly conjured by the talented Dan Hearn, to whom we said,
“Hey Dan, think Scooby-Doo meets Ready Steady Cook in the grubby pantry of an underground cabaret club.”
He didn’t flinch. He ran with it. What he brought back was haunting, comically unhinged, and a perfect fit for the chaos we call home.

Beneath our gameplay, the atmosphere breathes thanks to the incredible artists at Tabletop Audio, a haven for role-players, writers, dreamers, and anyone who wants to live inside another world for a while.
After each game recording, our Dungeon Master carefully curates tracks and sound effects from their vast library, stitching together an immersive underscore that wraps every episode in mood, madness, and a touch of musical menace.

Art that looks like it crawled out of a dream and forgot how to behave

Our Dungeon Master isn’t just a storyteller, she’s a creative mastermind with a paintbrush in one hand and a monster in the other. A fine art painter and devoted doodler of creepy curios, she gives our world its look, its grit, and its grin.

You might have noticed the strange, haunting faces of our characters. Their portraits are drawn in a style Harri calls “Anima.” The name was born from a play she performed in, where she first scrawled her characters to life in messy mounds of charcoal on stage. For Mimic in the Pantry, she’s dragged that style into the digital realm through Procreate, keeping every smudge and imperfection alive.

Over time, you’ll see more of her rough, sketchy, delightfully unhinged artwork creeping across our socials and website, straight from Harri’s hand, digitally ink-stained and grinning.

The off-table shenanigans
Our table of players is the beating, caffeine-fueled heart of this whole production.
Beyond the mic, every member of the party has their claws in the mix, web design, marketing, creative writing, documentation, organization, management, HR, accounting, merch, content creation, gadget-crafting, tech support, networking... you name it, someone’s probably doing it on two hours of sleep and too much coffee.

We’re a small, independent coven of nerds wearing all the hats and poking many fingers into the same deliciously cursed pie. A table of friends bound by chaos, love, and a mutual obsession with Dungeons & Dragons and storytelling. Every episode is built from our collective sweat, laughter, and just a little bit of blood.

If you’d like to keep the story alive, we’d be thrilled if you shared our podcast, online, in person, or whispered across a candlelit table. You can also join our Patreon and help feed the beast directly.
